Your community-driven magazine, offering tips, services for home abroaders, and unforgettable experiences.
Christmas always comes with a sense of tradition and a charming need to keep it alive. Every year, Barcelona is filled with lights, markets, and Christmas songs, turning the city into a festive place to celebrate the end of 2024. While we’re still one month away from saying goodbye to this year, it’s the perfect time to start planning a special visit to each one of these iconic Christmas Markets. They are all filled with figures, decorations, handcrafts from different artists, food such as cheeses, cold meals, desserts, and a festive atmosphere.
Fira de Nadal: Not only does this market have an amazing location at the gardens of the plaza at the Sagrada Familia, but also features hundreds of stalls selling Christmas trees, decorations, festive foods, handmade gifts, activities, and more. It’s also been around since 1962, making it the district’s most historic market. Nadal al Port: Located right on the port surrounded by ships, lights, color, and the sea. For a dreamy christmas Market, head to Moll de la Fusta.
"It's the most wonderful time of the year!"
La Fira de Santa Lucía: For the 237th consecutive year, the Santa Llúcia Fair is back on Avinguda de la Catedral in the heart of Barcelona. This beloved market transforms the neighborhood with a warm glow, a sense of anticipation, and a lively, festive spirit. Fira de Nadal de Port Vell: Returning this December for its fourth year, the Fira de Nadal de Port Vell, this market is perfect for buying holiday gifts, and seasonal treats and is also located next to the city’s Christmas tree, standing at 31 meters tall.
Fira de Sant Tomàs i Reis a la Gran Via: The Fira de Reis Christmas Market is one of the few places in Barcelona where a wide variety of toys can be found. The market first opened in 1877 when a group of traveling vendors chose Saint Thomas' Day as the perfect occasion to set up shop. Since then, it has become known for its selection of toys and candy, making it a go-to destination for last-minute shoppers in search of gifts for everyone on their list.
