Your community-driven magazine, offering tips, services for home abroaders, and unforgettable experiences.
As the year is about to come to an end, it’s time to plan some fun activities for vacations, and if it’s Spain we’re talking about, besides its wonderful Christmas markets, you’re probably thinking about its famous beaches as a holiday getaway. If you're in the Barcelona area, you're likely already aware that this vibrant city, home to over 1.7 million people, offers an abundance of things to do — from exploring world-class museums and trendy coffee shops to shopping and savoring delicious traditional cuisine. But one of its greatest highlights is the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the city with a quick trip to the beach.
What makes this even better is that you don’t need a car, taxi, or long commute to enjoy the sand and sea. Many of Barcelona's best beaches are easily accessible by train, allowing you to unwind by the water in no time. Sitges: With beautiful beaches in a town that loves to party, many bars and restaurants offer a great time, good vibes, and nightlife.
"A day at the beach is never lost time"
Usually, the most used transport to go from Barcelona to Sitges is the train: with affordable prices and spectacular views. Barcelona has 3 train stations that take you to Sitges by taking the R2 Sud Cercanías Line. If you are traveling in the day you are most likely to wish to travel by train - the cheapest and quickest option. Canet de Mar: Located on the Costa del Maresme, 47 km from Barcelona and 59 km from Girona. The town lies between the Mediterranean Sea and the Montnegre Natural Park. Thanks to these factors, Canet de Mar enjoys a sunny climate for much of the year and relatively mild temperatures.
The town is connected to Barcelona by the Renfe C1 Line. The journey takes about 50 minutes, with trains departing every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes during off-peak times. To travel from Barcelona, you can catch the train at the Sants, Plaça Catalunya, Arc de Triomf, and El Clot stations. Castelldefels: To the northeast of Barcelona stretches a series of charming beach towns, but Canet de Mar is extra special due to the presence of Castell de Santa Florentina, a medieval-style castle you can visit while having a day at the beach. The Castelldefels train station is located in the heart of the city, making it easy to reach the most central streets on foot in just a few minutes. All of this invites you to enjoy nature, the delights of Catalan cuisine, and a laid-back pace of life.
